The word hydroponics come from the latin and means literally working water.  hydroponics is a subculture of gardening where one grows plains without soil, but fertilizing nutritional irrigation systems.

The most common form of hydroponics one might see currently is vertical gardens.
What i find interesting about the this type of growing is how one can see the plants root system and much less messy growing plants in the home could be thanks to hydroponics.

This has allowed me to reconsider how my design might take into consideration 'the mess' of potted plants and soil, and for my final design allow the user/viewer to connect on a visual level as well as physical. Is there a deeper psychology to seeing a plant grow? Need to look into it further.
